Madge takes a deep breath then regrets it. Head teachers’ offices smell the same way they did thirty years ago. She tries to sit up straighter, but the hard-backed chairs aren’t made to instil confidence in whoever has been summoned. School has only just started, but here she is, having been made to endure the Walk of Shame.
